The town of Halton Hills will spend $1 million to add washrooms and a concession stand at Trafalgar Sports Park in Georgetown.

Town council has approved the expenditure that will also include space in the new building for meetings and storage.

The park is located at Trafalgar Road and 17 Sideroad.

Residents and park users have long complained about the lack of permanent facilities at the sports complex which up until now housed portable toilets that were rented during warm weather months.

In a staff report presented to council, it stated that $50,000 donated by the Georgetown Slo-Pitch League last year will help fund the project. The league says it will also contribute $10,000 this year.

The facility will be located near the baseball diamonds and the parking lot.

The work is expected to begin soon and will be carried out by Verly Construction Group which was the lowest bidder for the project.
