Eleven suspects -including a Mississauga man- are facing 29 charges in connection with an alleged organized drug trafficking ring that’s been operating in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

“Any time we take guns off the streets, it is a win for the residents we serve,” said Halton Regional Police Chief Stephen Tanner.

A joint forces investigation dubbed Project Boomerang began in April 2018 between Halton police, Peel police and the RCMP.

“Police agencies across the GTA, and the province, are all facing the same issues. Working together is key to reducing violent crime and ensuring our community continues to be a safe place to live and work,” said Peel Regional Police Chief Jennifer Evans.

The project received “substantial support” from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

Search warrants were executed at seven addresses across southern Ontario on July 13 and July 14.

Evidence seized during Project Boomerang includes:

  • One .357 Magnum revolver (loaded with ammunition).
  • One .22 Mossberg rifle.
  • $600,000 in cash.
  • one kilogram of cocaine.

  • Two ounces of psilocybin.
  • Two bars of silver.
