14 charges laid on men who allegedly fled Halton police

Halton Regional Police laid drug and weapon possession charges on two men from Toronto after they fled police and were chased down on foot in Oakville.

Halton Regional Police laid drug and weapon possession charges on two men from Toronto after they fled police and were chased down on foot in Oakville.

On Aug. 8, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers attempted to stop a motor vehicle in the Town of Oakville for Highway Traffic Act violations.

The vehicle refused to stop and fled the area, according to police.

“A short time later”, officers were able to locate the vehicle in the area of Trafalgar Rd and Rosegate Way.

Police say two occupants of the vehicle fled on foot.

“After a brief foot pursuit”, officers took two people into custody.

Police then recovered a loaded handgun and 27 grams of cocaine.

Aristotle Berlanguet, 18, of Toronto has been charged with:

  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order
  • Possession of Schedule 1 – Cocaine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm in a Motor Vehicle

A 19-year-old Toronto woman was also arrested but all charges have since been dropped.

Berlan​guet was held pending a bail hearing.
