17-Year-Old Arrested for Overnight Fires in Burlington

A teenager is in custody for allegedly setting items on fire outside of four homes in Burlington.

Police and the Burlington Fire Department were sent to the Palmer Dr. and Newlands Cres. area on Aug. 27 at 4 a.m.

That’s south of Upper Middle Rd., between Guelph Line and Walker’s Line.
“Fire had been intentionally set to several items stored outside four different homes,” say police.
A decorative wreath – on the front door of the house – was lit up at one home, and the homeowner smelled smoke, say police.
There was minor damage to the house.
Fire also destroyed a Ski-Doo and damaged a fence, in addition to other items.
A 17-year-old Burlington boy – whose name is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act – is charged with four counts of arson (damage to property) and fail to comply recognizance.
He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Monday at the Milton courthouse.
