3 suspects arrested on major highway after robbing a Bell store in Milton

Three masked suspects who entered a Bell store in the Town of Milton and used an imitation fire-arm to rob cell phones and cash were caught by police in a vehicle on the Gardiner Expressway last night.

On Friday (Jun. 16) at approximately 8 p.m., three individuals wearing masks approached a Bell Cellular store in the Town of Milton.

Police say once the suspects were inside the store, a lone employee was held at gunpoint with what appeared to be an imitation firearm, while the suspects proceeded to steal numerous phones and cash.

Following the theft the offenders fled the scene in an alleged stolen vehicle.

Officers reported that the victim suffered minor injuries due to the altercation.

A short time later investigators located and stopped the vehicle on the Gardiner Expressway.

Three suspects were arrested, in connection to the incident—one adult and two youths.

Police say the three individuals were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The following charges were laid in relation to the offence:

  • 3 counts of robbery with a firearm
  • 6 counts of possession of property obtained by crime
  • 3 counts of using an imitation firearm while committing an offence.
  • 1 count of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The identity of the adult offender is being withheld and has not been released by police, while the two  youth suspects identities are protected under the Youth Justice Act.

A recently surfaced video shows a witness recording from their apartment window, where several police vehicles are scattered along three lanes of traffic surrounding a vehicle with the alleged suspects inside.
