5 Father’s Day Ideas in Halton

Have you picked a Father’s Day present yet? Or worse, did you forget?

We tend to ignore Father’s Day, mostly because dads are like the underdogs.

And, because dads are mostly busy working, their special day should be all about pampering them.

Some quiet time with dad is always the best, no?

So, if you haven’t bought a present yet, you can still plan a day around him. Or maybe even a whole weekend!

Here’s what you can do.

For the outdoorsy dad

You can go camping or head to a lake and hangout, walk, bike or have a picnic. But if you’re looking for something more focused, head to Mountsberg Conservation Area. Explore a swamp, dip a net for pond critters, look for snakes, frogs and dragonflies with your dad. Or you could stick to a family picnic at any of the conservation areas.

For the beer-loving dad

If beer is dear to daddy dearest, pop open some suds. Father’s Day weekend is also the end of the Ontario Craft Beer Week, so there are many events across Ontario. But if you don’t want to drive too far, breweries across Halton have tours you could take. Why not visit Nickel Brook Brewing Co., or Furnace Room Brewery?

For the festival-goer dad

If your dad loves any event in the city and loves a day out, you can stop by a festival over the weekend. Springridge Farm’s annual Father’s Day Food Truck Festival is a great way to explore local food trucks. Combined with some fresh farm air, this sounds like a great way to spend the day with dad.

For the artsy dad

Classical music, gorgeous photographs, paintings, artifacts, theatre – if all this gets your dad excited, head to Ireland House Museum. Explore the Irish home, and you can also treat your dad to a pancake breakfast, where pancakes will be made on a 1900s woodstove.

There are several exhibits at the Art Gallery of Burlington too that you can explore.

If music is more your dad’s style, head for a free concert in the park. On Sunday the Burlington Teen Tour Band and The Burlington Junior Redcoats will be opening the Summer Concert Series. It will be a sight to watch, for sure.

For the foodie dad

Take your dad to tour all the latest culinary trends across Halton. Or treat your dad to excellent food and great service. Perhaps, a steak dinner is more your style. And, if your dad has a sweet tooth, make a dessert stop.

So, what are you planning to do for Father’s Day?
