This Lakeshore Rd. restobar has an enviable view across from Spencer Smith Park, paired with a modern, upscale atmosphere. Their menu - created by Chef Zee - offers everything from calamari to chorizo sausage and shrimp puff pastry to Moroccan spiced duck breast. Table 34's charcuterie board, or Mezza Plate, is superb. It features westphalian ham, Csabi sausage, provolone, gherkins, smoked almonds, grapes, cherry tomatoes, baba ghanouj, and bread. In other words, a perfect share platter!
Sushi-Ya Japan is a small restaurant serving up big taste in a prime location: downtown Milton. You’ll find it just off of Main St., along Martin. You’ll see men in suits, depending on the time of day, talking business over maki. Or there may be solo diners who need to get their sushi on, solo. Here you’ll find a relaxed spot serving up rolls, teriyaki, noodle dishes, plus Korean specialties (and you may overhear them speaking Korean in the kitchen). Start with miso soup or salad (with miso dressing) and edamame, then fill yourself up on a salmon or tuna combination. It’s equal parts simple and delicious. It’s a perfect place to eat healthy and stay trendy. This is a classic hidden gem. You’re welcome!
Head downtown to ‘restaurant row’ and ask for the Lemon Pavlova. This gluten-free treat includes meringue, mousse, and pomegranate seeds as garnish. It’s light and even though it’s not something typically up my alley, we polished it off pretty quick. This trendy gastropub is gaining popularity among craft beer enthusiasts (there are more than 15 varieties) and night owls alike. Desserts, such as pies, are made in-house (well, if we’re splitting hairs, they’re made next door at Seasons — same owners) and offer the same upscale post-dinner indulgence you’d expect, except it’s served in a casual atmosphere. The kitchen keeps it 100.
This elegant Main St. resto is perfect for a date ... a pizza date. As soon as I enter I'm greeted, whisked to a table, and promptly served. The sounds of Frank Sinatra fill the elegant, open concept space, where it's warm and inviting, with tons of natural light. My Neapolitan pizza - with organic natural yeast - was lit up in a wood-fire oven, then served piping hot. It's incredible, with a very thin crust, and the toppings (namely salomi ) were phenomenal. It's so simple (tomato sauce, Buffalo Mozzarella, basil, and extra virgin olive oil) yet so scrumptious. Service was absolutely outstanding -- never have I seen a restaurant where all staff are smiling and happy. No wonder diners have been flocking here since 2002. If you haven't been to Pasqualino, check it out - when you're not in a rush - and savour the best pizza in Milton!
The short ribs at Trattoria Timone should be on every meat eater’s bucket list. Seriously … it was an exquisite culinary experience. (Cheers to head chef Michel Fronteddu!) This long-time east-end favourite in the Oakville Entertainment Centrum has undergone renovations. It rocks a nautical theme, and it’s elegant and fun all wrapped in one. We started with the grilled calamari, which was crispy, not greasy, and served atop mixed greens. A great aioli with chives gave it a flavour boost. The gnocchi with veal ragu came in a creamy sauce, and it was phenomenal (the meat was well-done, while crispy asparagus and red peppers added texture to the dish). As for those short ribs ... they were oh-so-tender and it was essentially pure carnivore heaven. Ribs were served with sweet potato fries, which I can’t stop raving about, alongside a spicy aioli. Service was outstanding and so was the meal.
