Our main dish, dubbed Lunch in Beirut, featured succulent marinated chicken and sauteed onion and peppers on a bed of homemade hummus, plus pita bread and beet salad. Overall, the menu is vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian-friendly (the Bella and the Beast dish with its signature crispy cauliflower is simply divine!). Meals are made fresh at this family bistro, where service is attentive and portions are hearty. Dishes are inspired by Maro’s culinary travels. You should definitely travel to Kerr Village and check out his works of art!
The dress code is casual, however, the food is anything but. The Butternut Squash tastes Incredible (hold up, grammar nerds — that’s an intentional capital ‘I’). It features sundried tomatoes in an oh-so-creamy sage-gorgonzola sauce that is unbelievably satisfying. Then there’s the Paradiso Burger. The house-made patty is flavoured and tastes incredible as-is. One bite in, and I’m in burger paradise. This thick patty is topped with smoked cheddar, house-made ketchup and sweet pickles, smoked honey dijon mustard, then served with herb roasted mini red potatoes. Impressing Oakville diners for 20 years (there’s also a Burlington location on Pine St.) you’ve gotta make a reservation and get your burger on!
This elegant Main St. resto is perfect for a date … a pizza date. As soon as I enter I’m greeted, whisked to a table, and promptly served. The sounds of Frank Sinatra fill the elegant, open concept space, where it’s warm and inviting, with tons of natural light. My Neapolitan pizza - with organic natural yeast - was lit up in a wood-fire oven, then served piping hot. It’s incredible, with a very thin crust, and the toppings (namely salomi ) were phenomenal. It’s so simple (tomato sauce, Buffalo Mozzarella, basil, and extra virgin olive oil) yet so scrumptious. Service was absolutely outstanding — never have I seen a restaurant where all staff are smiling and happy. No wonder diners have been flocking here since 2002. If you haven’t been to Pasqualino, check it out - when you’re not in a rush - and savour the best pizza in Milton!
It’s sleek, sultry, and has a gorgeous leather bar — Rust Bistrobar can be found in north Burlington. (It’s in the same plaza as Tin Cup at Walkers Line and Upper Middle Rd.) The curated menu, created by Chef Paola Iaboni, focuses on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients highlighting the season’s best and “encapsulating the essence of cooking from the heart and soul.” Appetizers range from Korean Cauliflower to Burrata, while mains include Lamb, Duck Breast, and Portobello Wellington. Then there’s steak: The 40-ounce Tomahawk goes for $110 … (we can’t even). With a live fire grill, harvest table for larger gatherings, and six-seat chefs’ counter Rust offers a rotating craft beer menu and variety of wine …and thre’s Sunday brunch. Unisex bathroom stalls are reminiscent of downtown Toronto — think Cactus Club.
Essentially everything on the menu at the Gingerman is fantastic, including their nachos, tuna, burgers, and fries. The hand-cut Yukon gold fries are sprinkled with sea salt. They just hit the spot to the point where I could finish a massive platter of them for a solid, carb-filled, fatty meal. Same goes for the nachos. (Hopefully the cranky old guy who runs my gym doesn’t read this … or it will probably be death by burpee). Chase your meal with a glass of their hand-picked wine selection if you fancy vino, or be cool like me and order a whisky sour. The Kerr Village gem offers a great atmosphere with tons of wood and natural light, and is also known for its blue goose quesadilla, lettuce wraps, and salads.
