5 Places to Visit in Halton During Labour Day Weekend
This year, Labour Day falls on Monday, Sept. 2, 2019. As for where the day comes from, it originally gave workers the chance to campaign for better working conditions and pay, but now it’s part of a long weekend to relax.
And while some people are using the last long weekend of summer to get away, others are using the time to relax at home. If you’re spending this weekend at home and trying to plan what you’re going to do, we have you covered.
Here are five places to visit in the Halton Region this Labour Day weekend.
5. Mount Nemo
Address: 5317 Guelph Line
If you’re looking to spend some time outside this weekend (and before the weather gets cold), then Mount Nemo is a great option. The conservation park is open from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., April through October (park hours change after October), including Labour Day weekend.
“Mount Nemo is a favourite among hikers in Halton Parks,” reads the Conservation Halton website. “Away from the crowds and the hustle-bustle of the city, Mount Nemo is a peaceful sanctuary for nature walks. Mount Nemo isn’t without detours into adventure and exploration. Rock climb for a better look at the unique cliff-edge eco-system. Naturalists and birders are advised to keep binoculars, a magnifying glass, and a camera on them!”

4. Toronto Premium Outlets
Address: 13850 Steeles Ave. W.
Some malls and shopping centres are closed this weekend, however, Toronto Premiums Outlets in Halton Hills is one place that will be open. So, whether you need some back to school clothes or if you just want to revamp your fall wardrobe, Toronto Premium Outlets is a good place to check out.
The long weekend hours are as follows:
Saturday, Aug. 31: 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 1: 11: 00 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 2: 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

3. Oakville Museum
Address: 8 Navy St.
Calling all you history buffs - the Oakville Museum will be open Saturday to Monday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. this weekend!
“The historic buildings of Erchless Estate were once home to Oakville’s founding family but are now the setting for Oakville’s community museum,” reads the town’s website. “Colonel William Chisholm, an enterprising merchant and shipbuilder, founded the town and built Erchless overlooking his new harbour and Lake Ontario.”

2. Mission Possible Escape Rooms II
Address: 300 Bronte St. S.
If you’ve always wanted to try out an escape room, now is your chance because Mission Possible Escape Rooms II will be open this weekend (note that the escape room is located inside the Champs Family Entertainment Centre which will be closed - so, make sure to book an appointment).

1. Spencer’s at the Waterfront
Address: 1340 Lakeshore Rd.
This year alone, Spencer’s at the Waterfront has been recognized as one of Canada’s most scenic restaurants, and as one of Canada’s best outdoor dining restaurants.
“Sitting above the shore, Spencer’s at the Waterfront offers breathtaking, panoramic views of Burlington Bay and Lake Ontario,” notes the restaurant’s Facebook page. “The room—warm, welcoming, and relaxing, in natural wood and earth tones—boasts floor-to-ceiling windows throughout.”
However, the view at Spencer’s is not the only reason foodies should head out to this restaurant - the food is also next level!
