7 Halton Residents are Charged With Impaired Driving

Impaired driving remains the top criminal cause of death in Canada, according to Halton police, despite years of awareness campaigns illustrating why driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs is dangerous.

In an effort to bring more attention to the risk of driving while impaired, assist in identifying witnesses and reduce continued offences, Halton police are reporting the following impaired driving-related incidents across Oakville,Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills:


Name: Christopher Stewart, 50, of Acton

Date/Time: March 1, 2018, shortly before 11 p.m.

Location: Halton Police were conducting a mobile RIDE initiative near Guelph St. and Delrex Blvd. in Halton Hills.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: David Doerffer, 36, of Burlington

Date/Time: March 2, 2018, shortly after 12:30 a.m.

Location: Halton police initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Longmoor Dr. and Appleby Line in Burlington.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Gena Kelly 52, of Fisherville

Date/Time: Feb. 27, 2018, shortly after 7 p.m.

Location: Halton police responded to the area of West Oak Trails and Fourth Line in Oakville in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Leslie Butler, 60, of Milton

Date/Time: Feb. 27, 2018, shortly before 10 p.m.

Location: Halton police responded to the area of Regional Road 25 and Britannia Rd. in Milton in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Simranjit Dhadda, 20, of Burlington

Date/Time: Feb. 23, 2018, shortly before 10 a.m.

Location: Halton police responded to a collision in the area of Walkers Line and Upper Middle Rd. in Burlington.

Charge:

* Driving while ability impaired


Name: Ahmed Latif, 33, of Milton

Date/Time: Feb. 24, 2018, shortly after 3 a.m.

Location: Halton police initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Dundas St. and Cornerstone Dr. in Burlington.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Mirko Badrov, 65, of Oakville

Date/Time: Feb. 24, 2018, shortly after 2:30 p.m.

Location: Halton Police officers responded to the area of Gill Crescent and Grovehill Road in Oakville, in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Meghan Carter, 22, of Georgetown

Date/Time: Feb. 24, 2018, shortly before 9:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police responded to a collision in the area of Chelvin Dr. and Delrex Blvd. in Georgetown.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives, police say.

Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 911 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.
