7 Halton Residents are Facing Impaired Driving Charges

Impaired driving remains the top criminal cause of death in Canada, according to Halton police, despite years of awareness campaigns illustrating why driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs is dangerous.

In an effort to bring more attention to the risk of driving while impaired, assist in identifying witnesses and reduce continued offences, Halton police are reporting the following impaired driving-related incidents across Oakville,Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills.


Name: Obaid Mujtaba, 24, of Milton

Date/Time: March 30, 2018, shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Location: Halton police responded to a collision in the area of Maple Ave. and Brush Rd. in Milton.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Richard Fox, 34, of Stoney Creek

Date/Time: March 30, 2018, shortly before 8:30 a.m.

Location: Halton police responded to a collision in the area of Main St. S. and Park Ave. in Halton Hills.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Jeremy Dixon, 22, of Milton

Date/Time: March 30, 2018, shortly before 10:30 a.m.

Location: Halton police responded to the area of Robarts Dr. and Dills Cres. in Milton in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Lance Atchison, 50, of Burlington

Date/Time: March 31, 2018, shortly after 11:30 a.m.

Location: Halton police officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Princeton Cres. and Sunnydale Dr. in Burlington.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Ali Mohammed, 33, of Burlington

Date/Time: March 31, 2018, shortly before 8 p.m.

Location: Halton police responded to a collision in the area of Fairview St. and Maple Ave. in Burlington.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Clark Stewart, 45, of Milton

Date/Time: March 31, 2018, shortly after 9 p.m.

Location: Halton police responded to the area of Maple Ave. and Norrington Pl. in Milton in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Ryan Whey, 22, of Mississauga

Date/Time: April 1, 2018, shortly before 11 a.m.

Location: Halton police responded to a collision in the area of Speers Rd. and Bronte Rd. in Oakville.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Pinto Verdugo, 45, of Milton

Date/Time: April 1, 2018, shortly before 9 p.m.

Location: Halton police initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Main St. and James St. in Milton.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Jennifer Lawrence, 44, of Oakville

Date/Time: April 1, 2018, shortly after 10:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers were conducting a mobile R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Cornwall Rd. and Chartwell Rd. in Oakville.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Janusz Uramowski, 66, of Mississauga

Date/Time: April 3, 2018, shortly before 10 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers responded to the area of Derry Rd. and Sixth Line in Milton in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charges:

* Care or control while impaired

* Care or control over 80 mgs


Officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives, police say.

Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 911 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.
