7 Halton Residents Charged With Impaired Driving

Impaired driving remains the top criminal cause of death in Canada, according to Halton police, despite years of awareness campaigns illustrating why driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs is dangerous.

In an effort to bring more attention to the risk of driving while impaired, assist in identifying witnesses and reduce continued offences, Halton police are reporting the following impaired driving-related incidents across Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills:
Name: Richard Staite, 56, of Woodstock

Date/Time: Jan. 19, 2018 after 10:10 p.m. during a traffic stop.

Location: Halton police officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Rebecca St. and Burloak Dr. in Oakville.

Charge:

* Driving while ability impaired


Name: Chamkaur Sra, 37, of Oakville

Date/Time: Jan. 19, 2018 shortly before 12 a.m.

Location: Halton police officers were conducting a mobile RIDE initiative in the area of Trafalgar Rd. and Dundas St. in Oakville.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Christopher Corey Jones, 37, of Milton

Date/Time: Jan. 20, 2018 after 2 a.m. during a traffic stop.

Location: Halton police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Trafalgar Rd. and Hwy. 401 in Milton.

Charge:

* Driving while ability impaired


Name: Stephanie Slack, 30, of Mississauga

Date/Time: Jan. 20, 2018 after 2 a.m. during a traffic stop.

Location: Halton police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Dundas St. and Oak Walk Dr. in Oakville

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Gary Meagher, 53, of Burlington

Date/Time: Jan. 20, 2018 after 3:30 a.m.

Location: Halton police officers responded to the area of Walkers Line and Upper Middle Rd. in Burlington in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Care or control while impaired


Name: Diego Guerra-Lara, 36, of Oakville

Date/Time: Jan. 21, 2018 shortly before 12:30 a.m.

Location: Halton police officers responded to the area of Brant St. and North Service Rd. in Burlington in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Meghan Cioffi, 18, of Mississauga

Date/Time: Jan. 21, 2018 after 12:30 a.m.

Location: Halton police officers responded to the area of Upper Middle Rd. and Bronte Rd. in Oakville in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charge:

* Driving while ability impaired


Name: Nicholas Salari, 27, of Oakville

Date/Time: Jan. 21, 2018 shortly after 1 a.m. during a traffic stop.

Location: Halton police officers responded to a collision in the area of Rebecca St. and Warminster Dr. in Oakville.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Lila Bonin, 45, of Oakville

Date/Time: Jan. 21, 2018, shortly before 3:30 a.m. during a traffic stop.

Location: Halton police officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Trelawn Ave. and Cardinal Dr. in Oakville.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Brian Collins, 59, of Waterdown

Date/Time: Jan. 21, 2018, shortly after 8 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers were conducting a RIDE program at Upper Middle Rd. and Hwy. 407 in Burlington.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Matthew Klevinas, 31, of Burlington

Date/Time: Jan. 22, 2018, shortly before 1:20 a.m. during a traffic stop.

Location: Halton police officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Guelph Line and Fairview in Burlington.

Charge:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Care or control while impaired


Officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives, police say.

Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 911 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.
