7 Halton Residents Facing Impaired Driving Charges

Impaired driving remains the top criminal cause of death in Canada, according to Halton police, despite years of awareness campaigns illustrating why driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs is dangerous.

In an effort to bring more attention to the risk of driving while impaired, assist in identifying witnesses and reduce continued offences, Halton police are reporting the following impaired driving-related incidents across Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills:

Name: Brayden Keeler, 26, of Georgetown

Date/Time: Feb. 15, 2018, shortly before 11 a.m.

Location: Halton police were conducting a mobile RIDE initiative near Argyll Rd. in Georgetown.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Zainab Ahmed, 24, of Brampton

Date/Time: Feb. 15, 2018, shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police responded to the area of Ernest Appelbe Blvd. and Mintwood Circle in Oakville in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Karan Singh, 21, of Brampton

Date/Time: Feb. 16, 2018, shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Location: Halton police were conducting a mobile RIDE initiative near Guelph St. in Georgetown.

Charge:

* Fail or refuse to provide sample


Name: Martin Milanov, 22, of Oakville

Date/Time: Feb. 15, 2018 shortly after 12 a.m.

Location: Halton police initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Lakeshore Rd. and Maple Grove Rd. in Oakville.

Charge:

* Driving while ability impaired


Name: Christopher Copeland, 46, of Oakville

Date/Time: Feb. 13, 2018, before 8:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police responded to the area of Ashdale Place and Chartwell Rd. in Oakville in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Samantha Lico, 43, of Brampton

Date/Time: Feb. 13, 2018, shortly after 9 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers responded to the area of Headon Forest Dr. and Butternut Cres. in Burlington in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Ryan O'Meara, 40, of Dundas

Date/Time: Feb. 12, 2018, shortly after 4 p.m.

Location: Halton police were conducting a mobile RIDE initiative near Speers Rd. and Morden Rd. in Oakville.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Christopher Smithers, 50, of Burlington

Date/Time: Feb. 9, 2018, shortly before 8:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police responded to the Brant and Prospect streets area in Burlington in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: George Banitsiotis, 46, of Oakville

Date/Time: Feb. 11, 2018, shortly after 10 p.m.

Location: Halton police were conducting a mobile RIDE initiative near Speers Rd. and Morden Rd. in Oakville.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Vesna Pritchard, 45, of Milton

Date/Time: Feb. 11, 2018, shortly before 1 a.m.

Location: Halton police initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Louis St. Laurent Ave. and Ferguson Dr. in Milton.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Glen Bodnar, 58, of Burlington

Date/Time: Feb. 12, 2018, shortly after 12 a.m.

Location: Halton police initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Cobblestone Dr. and Sinclair Cir. in Burlington.

Charge:

* Driving while impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives, police say.

Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 911 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.
