8 Halton Residents Charged With Impaired Driving

Impaired driving remains the top criminal cause of death in Canada, according to Halton police, despite years of awareness campaigns illustrating why driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs is dangerous.

In an effort to bring more attention to the risk of driving while impaired, assist in identifying witnesses and reduce continued offences, Halton police are reporting the following impaired driving-related incidents across Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills:

Name: Ian MacDonald, 34, of Oakville

Date/Time: Jan. 12, 2018,, just before 5 p.m.

Location: Witnesses reported a suspected impaired driver in the area of Lakeshore Rd. in Oakville.

Charge:

* Driving while ability impaired


Name: Michael Stoyles, 59, of Oakville

Date/Time: Jan. 12, 2018,, just before 8 p.m. during a traffic stop.

Location: A traffic stop was initiated near Cross Ave. and Speers Rd. in Oakville.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Scott Ferguson, 48, of Milton

Date/Time: Jan. 13, 2018,, just after 1 a.m.

Location: Halton police officers were conducting mobile R.I.D.E. near Mill St. and Main Str. in Milton.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Lindsay Ferguson, 40, of Milton

Date/Time: Jan. 13, 2018,, just after 1 a.m.

Location: Halton police officers were conducting mobile R.I.D.E. near Martin St. and Steeles Ave. in Milton.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Lance Atchison, 49, of Burlington

Date/Time: Jan. 13, 2018,, just after 5:30 p.m. during a traffic stop.

Location: A traffic stop was initiated in the area of Guelph Line and the QEW in Burlington.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Karan Grewal, 22, of Mississauga

Date/Time: Jan. 13, 2018, just before 11p.m. during a traffic stop.

Location: A traffic stop was initiated near Derry Rd. and Commercial St. in Milton.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Alisa Chaly, 33, of Georgetown

Date/Time: Jan. 13, 2018, just before 11:30 p.m.

Location: Witnesses reported a suspected impaired driver in the area of Steeles Ave.and Ninth Line in Milton.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Fail or refuse to provide sample


Name: Harjot Singh, 23, of Brampton

Date/Time: Jan. 14, 2018, just after 5 a.m.

Location: Witnesses reported a suspected impaired driver in the area of North Shore Blvd. and Niagara-bound QEW in Burlington.

Charge:

* Care or control while impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Catherine Topp, 59, of Burlington

Date/Time: Jan. 16, 2018, shortly after 9 p.m.

Location: Witnesses reported a suspected impaired driver in the area of King Rd. and Deborah Cres. in Burlington.

Charge:

* Driving while ability impaired


Name: Brennan Kinney, 23, of Milton

Date/Time: Jan. 18, 2018, shortly after 11:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program near James Snow Pkwy. and Main St. in Milton.

Charge:

* Driving while ability impaired


Name: David Greaves, 22, of Mississauga

Date/Time: Jan. 19, 2018, shortly after 2:30 a.m. during a traffic stop.

Location: Halton police initiated a traffic stop near Guelph St. and Adamson St. in Georgetown.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives, police say.

Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 911 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.
