9 Halton Residents are Charged With Impaired Driving

Impaired driving remains the top criminal cause of death in Canada, according to Halton police, despite years of awareness campaigns illustrating why driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs is dangerous.

In an effort to bring more attention to the risk of driving while impaired, assist in identifying witnesses and reduce continued offences, Halton police are reporting the following impaired driving-related incidents across Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills:


Name: Michael Repchull, 54, of Hamilton

Date/Time: June 14, 2018, shortly before 4:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police were conducting a mobile R.I.D.E. initiative near Maple Ave. and Fairview St. in Burlington.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Olga Nevzorova, 21, of Milton

Date/Time: June 14, 2018, shortly before 3 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers were conducting a mobile R.I.D.E. initiative near Ontario St. N. and Donald Campbell Ave. in Milton.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Santana Mohan, 32, of Oakville

Date/Time: June 15, 2018, shortly before 3 a.m.

Location: Halton police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint near Upper Middle Rd. and Third Line in Oakville.

Charge:

* Fail or refuse to provide sample


Name: Christopher Brown, 46, of Burlington

Date/Time: June 13, 2018, shortly before 10 p.m.

Location: Halton police were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check in the vicinity of Hwy. 407 and Upper Middle Rd. in Burlington.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Devin Shumilak, 40, of Oakville

Date/Time: June 14, 2018, shortly after 12 a.m.

Location: Halton police responded to a citizen-initiated traffic in the vicinity of the South Service Rd. and Harvester Rd. in Burlington.

Charges:

* Driving while ability impaired

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Kenneth Genoe, 53, of Acton

Date/Time: June 12, 2018, shortly after 12 p.m.

Location: Halton police responded to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint near Queen St. and Eastern Ave. in Acton.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Denise Ponnuthurai, 49, of Burlington

Date/Time: June 11, 2018, shortly before 9 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint near Walkers Line and Mainway in Burlington.

Charges:

* Care or control over 80 mgs

* Care or control while impaired


Name: Nicholas Bennett, 29, of Guelph

Date/Time: June 11, 2018, shortly before 12 a.m.

Location: Halton police initiated a traffic stop on Hwy. 7 in Milton.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: William Kemp, 63, of Burlington

Date/Time: June 8, 2018, shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police were conducting a mobile R.I.D.E. initiative near the intersection of Kingsway Dr. and Plains Rd. E. in Burlington.

Charge:

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs

Date/Time: June 9, 2018, shortly after 1 a.m.

Location: Halton police were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative near North Shore Blvd. E. and the QEW in Burlington.

Name: Alan Johnston, 65, of Oakville

Date/Time: June 9, 2018, shortly after 11 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers were conducting a mobile R.I.D.E. initiative near the intersection of Marine Dr. and Jones St. in Oakville.

* Impaired driving - over 80 mgs


Name: Jason McMeekan, 45, of Hamilton

Date/Time: June 9, 2018, shortly after 11:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative near the intersection of Plains Rd. W. and Spring Gardens Rd. in Burlington.

* Driving while ability impaired


Name: Kyle Murray, 23, of Hamilton

Date/Time: June 10, 2018, shortly before 11:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint near Guelph Line and Fairview St. in Burlington.

Date/Time: June 10, 2018, shortly after 11:30 p.m.

Location: Halton police officers were conducting a mobile R.I.D.E. initiative near Marlborough Ct. and Trafalgar Rd. in Oakville.

Date/Time: June 11, 2018, shortly before 4:30 a.m.

Location: Halton police responded to a citizen-initiated complaint near Appleby Line and Britannia Rd. in Burlington.

* Care or control while impaired

Officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives, police say.

Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 911 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.
