The splash pad at Lansdown Park will have a pirate theme

The transformation of a Burlington park will see a baseball diamond eliminated but will include upgrades to a soccer field and the addition of a pirate-themed splash pad.

Lansdown Park (3448 Hannibal Rd.) is the location where the overhaul will occur that will start next month and take until the end of the year to complete.

The work will see the removal of a baseball diamond that will make way for a new adult-sized soccer field. As well, the splash pad will have a modern, fully-equipped design that will give young users that feel for adventure with the swashbuckling pirate-like amenities that will be added.

Aside from those mentioned, other changes include:

  • New water service
  • Installation of shade structure
  • Accessible picnic tables
  • Drinking fountain with bottle filler and pet bowl
  • Exercise equipment stations
  • New asphalt pathways with park-loop
  • New waste bins
  • Additional seating areas
  • Planting of several new trees
  • Winter-designated skating area

To ensure public safety during construction, the Lansdown Park playground area will be closed during construction. The parking area will be used for construction and will also be closed until construction is complete.
