Amid the recent anonymous and controversial letter circulating social media, stating out-of-control aggressive behaviour and “disorderly conduct” at Tomken Road Middle School in Peel Region—a second letter has now been posted, claiming that a culture of violence and discrimination exists at another Mississauga school.

Much like the first, the latest letter was shared on Twitter by lawyer Michael Teper who says, “admin might find these letters embarrassing/inconvenient, but I challenge them to prove the statements are false.”

The letter contains a list of incidents in bulletproof form, that happened over the last three years at Homelands Senior Public School, located near Dundas Street West and Erin Mills Parkway in Mississauga.

Some of the allegations presented racial slurs uttered by students, language that is discriminatory against the 2SLGBTQ+ students, acts of vandalism spread throughout the school, physical and verbal fights and teachers being threatened with violence.

The letter calls out administrators for their lack of discipline, discouraging teachers from filing incident reports involving violence, and placing blame on teachers for not being ‘engaging’ enough.”

It goes on to mention an instance where more than 20 staff members at the school were placed on mental health leave, as a result of the working conditions over the last three years.

Although the letter does identify the improvements that were seen after a new principal took over the position, proving to be a “positive and impactful leader”— before adding that change takes time.

However, the letter also notes that the former principal (since then) had been redeployed to another Peel school and that staff there are “scared due to her reputation.”

“We cannot change the past, but it is imperative that we do not repeat the same mistakes by simply moving administration around and without demanding answers from the superintendent or the board at large,” reads the letter.
