An exciting new art exhibit is coming to the Town of Halton Hills.
Until March 3, the Helson Gallery will be showcasing highlights of the Helson Collection – an exhibition, according to a recent press release, of artworks from the late Frederick Helson’s outstanding gifts to the town.

Helson, who passed away in August of 2018, was well recognized in the the Town of Halton Hills. He donated over $800,000 worth of paintings, received a Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012, and was named the Georgetown citizen of the year for 2014.
“The Halton Hills community lost a great benefactor with the passing of Fred Helson in 2018 but his generous gift of art will continue to inspire for generations to come,” Mayor Rick Bonnette said in the release.
The exhibit will consist of paintings from members of the Group of Seven (a group of Canadian landscape painters in the 1920s and 30s), Cornelius Krieghoff (a noted historic artist), along with other popular Canadian and European artists from the 19thcentury.The Helson Gallery Curator, Judy Daley, will share stories behind the paintings in an exhibition talk that will take place on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 2:30 – 3 p.m. in the gallery.
Admission to the talk is free.
The Helson Gallery is located at 9 Church St., Halton Hills and is open Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 – 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 1 – 8:30 p.m.
