Annual tree pruning program happening soon in Milton
The annual neighbourhood tree pruning program is happening soon in the Town of Milton.
Through this program, trees are usually pruned every five to 10 years until they are fully mature.
Pruning is done by removing dead or loose branches or any growth that interferes with the tree’s ability to flourish. The work will be performed by Town staff and contractors and is done to benefit the health of the trees along with the safety of the community.
This year, the Town will be focusing on pruning trees in the Beaty, Coates and Scott neighbourhoods.
Residents are reminded that only trees on Town properties that are located at the front and side of residential properties will be pruned.
These are the trees that are located between the roadway and sidewalk, or between the roadway and a private building in the absence of a sidewalk.
The Town would like to advise residents that while the visual changes may appear drastic after pruning, they will be performed to the correct arboriculture standards which will limit stress on the trees.
Additionally, the Town is advising residents to remove all seasonal lights and objects from Town trees, where applicable and to avoid parking vehicles under a tree on their street until the tree has been pruned.insauga's Editorial Standards and Policies advertising
