Halton Regional Police have charged a Burlington man following an incident where a motorcycle driver took off when officers tried to detain him.

Reports indicate the events unfolded around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5 when officers noticed several motorcycles in the area of Plains St. and the Roya Botanical Gardens.

Police noticed that one of the motorcycles had its licence plate turned upwards, concealing the numbers. When officers tried to stop the vehicle the driver made a u-turn and sped off heading westbound on Plains Rd. towards Hamilton, weaving in and out of traffic.

A subsequent follow-up investigation has led police to make an arrest.

Charged with fleeing from a police officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle is 26-year-old Connor Pardy. He is also facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act.

Pardy has been released from custody and will appear in court to answer the charges on Sept. 13.
