Arrest made in Oakville after police stop driver prohibited for life from driving

Numerous charges have been laid following a recent traffic stop in Oakville.

Numerous charges have been laid following a recent traffic stop in Oakville.

On Sunday afternoon, May 17, Cst. Marc Taraso stopped a vehicle to investigate the missing validation sticker on its rear licence plate.

During his investigation, Taraso found that the driver had been prohibited for life from driving since 1998.

The driver was arrested and a search allegedly turned up two smalls packs of hash in the driver’s pants pocket as well as a pipe in the centre console.

The following charges were laid:

  • Operation while prohibited x2
  • Driving while under suspension X2
  • Driving without a licence (reportedly expired since 1999)
  • Driving without insurance
  • Unauthorized plates
  • Driving without registration
  • Driving with Cannabis readily accessible

“The vehicle has been automatically impounded for 45 days, and I will be petitioning the Crown to seek a forfeiture order for the vehicle,” Taraso said.

The driver will appear in court at a later date to answer to all charges.
