Arrests made after Georgetown mall break and enter

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest in connection to a break and enter that occurred at the Georgetown Marketplace Mall.
Police say on April 7, 2022, two suspects broke into a lottery kiosk inside the mall after it was closed.
The suspects stole lottery tickets and attempted to activate them at a nearby convenience store, according to police.
On May 3, 2022, a media release was issued requesting assistance in identifying the suspects.
Police say one of the suspects was identified with help from the community and further investigation led to the identification of the second suspect.
On July 15, 2022, investigators from the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau executed a search warrant at a residence in Georgetown and one of the suspects was arrested inside.

Steven Collins, a 42-year-old from Georgetown has been charged with break, enter and commit and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
According to police, Collins was released from custody on an undertaking with a court date.
Police say the second suspect has been identified but remains outstanding.
Police are making efforts to locate and arrest this suspect and his identity is not being released at this time.
