Halton Regional Police are on the lookout for a male suspect accused of setting vehicles on fire in front of a business in Halton Hills.

On May 11, shortly after 10:15 p.m. police responded to a 911 call that three parked vehicles were on fire in front of the GT Auto located at 546 Guelph St in Norval.

Police said, after a review of the surveillance video, the suspect appears to have poured gasoline on the vehicles before setting them on fire.

“Investigators have determined the vehicles were intentionally set on fire in front of the business and it is being treated as arson,” said the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS).

“The fire was quickly extinguished and there was no damage to the business or surrounding structures.”

They say the suspect also appears to light one of his feet on fire and is last seen running west across the front of the business towards Louisa St.

“Police are urging anyone who was in the area of Guelph Street and Louisa Street at the time of the incident and anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area to contact the HRPS”, added police.

The suspect is male and was wearing a black hoodie and black sweat pants.

“The vehicle of interest is described as s a gold or silver four-door sedan,” said Halton Police. “Possibly a Honda Prelude or Accord.”

Police added that they will not be releasing the surveillance footage at this time.
