Assault charges laid in altercation that left Oakville security guard injured

Halton Regional Police have arrested and charged a man they allege was involved in an altercation on Monday (June 19) that left an Oakville mall security guard with “significant injuries.”

Police announced Wednesday (June 21) that James Buckland of Oakville was arrested and charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm.

The victim of the incident, a 75-year-old male security guard at South Oakville Mall, remains in stable, but serious condition in hospital.

Police were called to South Oakville Mall at around 1:45 p.m. on Monday and found the 75-year-old male with serious injuries to his head.

The man was working as a security guard at the local mall when police allege he got into altercation with another male in the north section of the parking lot.

Police arrested a 22-year-old male at the scene on Monday. The incident is under investigation by the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau.
