bomb threat Burlington Ontario police school

Halton police are investigating to see if a bomb scare at a Burlington school is connected to threats made at several other Ontario schools.

The threat received at Nelson High School on New St. came in by phone just as classes were ending yesterday (Nov. 1) at 2:50 p.m.

Police say most of the school was emptying out as usual and any remaining students and staff were evacuated. All nighttime activities were cancelled.

After a thorough investigation, police say no bombs or any other potential danger was found at the school. Classes resumed today.

The threat at Nelson was similar to ones received at schools in Toronto’s west end and in other parts of Ontario yesterday.

Schools targeted throughout the province were both religious and secular. No bombs were found in any of the Ontario schools that received the bomb warnings.

With the similarity of the threats, police are investigating to see if they are linked and if so, for what reason.
