Bomb squad investigating blasting caps inside Oakville home

The police bomb squad is on the scene at an Oakville home Tuesday (Sept. 8) morning, causing a closure in the area of Chartwell Rd.

The police bomb squad is on the scene at an Oakville home Tuesday (Sept. 8) morning, causing a closure in the area of Chartwell Rd.

The Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) is investigating after Halton Regional Police received a call regarding the discovery of blasting caps, which are used to detonate an explosive charge, inside of the home.

At 11:19 a.m., Halton Police tweeted, “Chartwell Road is currently closed between Michael Terrace and Lakeshore Road for ongoing police investigation”.

Officers in the EDU are trained to deal with the safe handling of explosives. They are responsible for the investigation of explosive devices and explosions while responding to biological, chemical, and nuclear hazards
