A significant police presence in an Oakville neighbourhood last night turned out to be a home invasion investigation.

According to Halton police, on Jan. 9 around 6:40 p.m., police were called about an alleged break-in at a house on Maplegrove Dr. Several vehicles showed up and were blocking the area around Maplegrove Dr. and Lakeshore Rd.

The numerous police in attendance was in case the suspect was still inside the home.

Police on the scene entered the home, discovered that a break-in had occurred, however there was no one else inside. They believe the thief broke a glass door on the second floor to gain access.

The residents were not at home and there is no confirmation of exactly what was stolen.
