A stretch of a busy Burlington street will undergo two weekends of overnight construction work.
The project will take place on Dundas St. between Appleby Line and Tremaine Rd. from Fridays to Sundays.
The first stage will start Oct. 20 and the second will begin Oct 27 and should be completed by Oct. 30 depending on the weather and other factors.
The work is part of the ongoing upgrade on Dundas that is being redesigned to meet future traffic demands as well as provide new travel options for cyclists and pedestrians.
Specifically, the night work is being carried out so that the existing south Tansley Bridge can be demolished and replaced with one that will accommodate growth.
“Given the nature of this busy roadway and the demolition work, work is proceeding at night to ensure the safety of workers and to reduce the impacts on commuters and businesses,” reads a statement by Halton Region which is responsible for the project. “We will make every effort to complete the construction work as quickly as possible to minimize the impact of the night work.”
