“We could really use your help,” said the Burlington Food Bank on Twitter.
“The Burlington Food Bank is extremely low on food, if you’re out grocery shopping and can afford to pick up a few extra items for the donation bin, we would greatly appreciate it!”
The food bank’s most needed items include canned vegetables, large soup, hot and cold cereal, juice boxes, canned fruit, crackers, canned tomatoes, canned pasta sauce, baked beans and canned fish.
The Burlington Food Bank supplies to clients and over 20 emergency food programs across the city.
Formed in 1991, the organization has grown to provide a total of 1,747 lbs of food each day that goes directly to Burlington residents in need. A total of 43 per cent of Burlington Food Bank’s clients are families with children.
“Our role in the community is to collect, purchase, grow, and distribute food directly to families in Burlington that need a little help,” reads the organization’s website.
