Burlington goalie named Humanitarian of the Year for his fundraising efforts with Georgetown Raiders

A Burlington goalie who plays for the Georgetown Raiders has been named the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Humanitarian of the Year.
Mikael Kingo, 17, was recognized for his contributions to The Angel Project, a charity started by his mother that focuses its attention on hospital patients. That charity is supported by the Raiders and former NHL great Doug Gilmour sits on its board of directors.
In addition, when he was 15, Kingo started his own charitable effort, raising money for his fellow hockey goalies who can’t necessarily afford their own equipment.
Kingo’s Major Junior rights are owned by the Peterborough Petes, who selected him in the 10th round of the 2020 draft.
