Burlington is handing out cash for neighbourhood parties

Burlington is encouraging you to get out and party this year to celebrate the City’s 150th birthday.

The Love My Neighbourhood Program has launched to form local connections, strengthen relationships and build support systems in the community and generate goodwill between residents as sesquicentennial activities are carried out.

And, to encourage participation, a one-time grant is being made available per neighbourhood, resident or street section, condominium, or apartment group to host a gathering or ongoing activity.

Up to $500 is available to be used for these events.

“Join us in celebrating Burlington’s 150th anniversary by bringing the community together,” reads a statement issued by the City to promote the event. “Let’s make history by organizing 150 neighbourhood gatherings across the city, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Come out and connect with your neighbours, share stories and celebrate Burlington’s rich heritage. Together, let’s honour the past and embrace the future!”

While the funds are available, several guidelines need to be met for eligibility.

Complete rules and application forms can be found here.
