The City of Burlington wants to construct a protected bikeway on Plains Rd. and is hosting a virtual public meeting so residents can have a look.

The purpose of the meeting is to present the construction design drawings for Plains Road Protected Bikeways and Resurfacing to the public.

The bikeway will run from Spring Gardens Road to Waterdown Road. The project includes the installation of a cycle track on the north side of Plains Road and a protected bikelane on the south side. Plains Road will be milled down and resurfaced with localized curb and sidewalk removals.

Other parts of the plan include cyclist-friendly crosswalks and turning lanes, dedicated bicycle signals at intersections and cycle tracks, which are bike-only lanes separated from traffic.

The virtual meeting is being held via Zoom on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
