Camp registration now open for aspiring firefighters in Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Halton Hills

Registration is now open for aspiring young firefighters in Halton Region to get firsthand experience at a career camp.
Blaze Fire Academy, a joint initiative of the fire departments in Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills, is now accepting career camp online applications from youth aged 15 to 20.
The third and final in a series of career camps this year will be held on Nov. 8 and 9, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fire Training Campus in Oakville.
Up to 24 participants will be selected for the camp which provides hands-on experience into all aspects of the fire service, fire suppression and more.
The online applications close on Oct. 19, 2023, and are available by visiting here.
Immersive training will be offered as follows:
Nov. 8
- Fire dispatch
- Search and rescue
- Auto extrication
- Medical
- Panel discussion with Fire Chiefs from across Halton region
Nov. 9
- Forcible entry and roof operations
- Fire hydrant competition
- Firefighter survival
- Fire prevention and education
- Information session about fire service education, courses, and certification
- Graduation ceremony
Similar Blaze Academy camps were held earlier this year for young women (ages 15 to 18) and for adults transitioning into the fire service.
