A muscular, bearded suspect has been caught on camera entering parked cars in Milton and Halton police are asking the public to help identify him.

The incident took place on Sept. 20 just after midnight in the Hawthorne South area.

The alleged thief targeted easily accessible items left inside the cars, say police.

He’s described as non-white, in his mid to late 20s, standing six-feet, weighing 180 pounds with a muscular build.

He has a full beard and was wearing a dark, tight bandana over his hair, a long gold chain around his neck, and a dark ‘Hockey Night in Canada’ T-shirt.

The suspect appears to have tattoos on his right forearm, right bicep and left tricep area.

Investigators from the street crime unit have a message for residents.

“A significant percentage of thefts from vehicles are preventable and are merely crimes of opportunity,” said Det. Barrett Gabriel from 1 District’s criminal investigations bureau.

“To reduce the possibility of victimization we are again reminding members of the public to remove valuables from plain sight and to secure their vehicles when left unattended.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone Det. Barrett Gabriel at  905-825-4747 ext. 2417 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
