A Milton man is facing charges in connection with the attempted abduction of a young boy at McDougall Park.

The suspect is charged with kidnapping and attempt abduction of a person underneath 14, said Halton police Det.-Const. Quince Buchanan, adding witnesses are being asked to come forward.

The incident took place on Aug. 25 at 8:15 p.m. near McDougall Crossing and Ware Cres.

The two-year-old boy was with his mother, who intervened, say investigators.

Police allege a male suspect grabbed the child by his arm and attempted to take him to a nearby vehicle – originally reported as a Honda Accord but confirmed to be a dark blue 2006 Acura CSX.

The suspect released the child and fled to the vehicle, which left the area quickly, heading toward Savoline Blvd.

The man got into the passenger side of the vehicle, according to the child’s mother, who took to social media to warn parents of the incident.

There may have been additional passengers in the car, say investigators.

Police located the car, parked at a Milton home, and arrested a suspect.

Christian Lamontagne, 41, is charged.

Anyone who saw the the suspect or saw the Acura on Aug. 25 is asked to phone Det.-Const. Quince Buchanan at 905-265-8768 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
