“At approximately 12:45 p.m. on May 1, the Halton Regional Police Service received a call regarding a male barricaded in a home, possibly with weapons, on Honeyvale Road in Oakville”, said police.

The call originated from someone concerned about social media posts they had seen online, allegedly threatening suicide.

“Frontline officers, TAC, K9, and negotiators were deployed to the scene with the goal of bringing this to a safe conclusion,” added police. “Roads were closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the immediate area and adjacent homeowners were instructed by officers to shelter in place in their basements until the situation was resolved.”

Police said while they were negotiating with the man, a woman exited the home unharmed.

Officers were on the scene when they received information from family members at around 5 p.m. that escalated their concern” for the male. After obtaining a key to the residence, police entered the home and apprehend the suspect.
