Chuck E Cheese files for bankruptcy

Check E Cheese has filed for bankruptcy.
In a statement released today (June 25), CEO David McKillips said the restaurant chain beloved by kids across North America has filed for voluntary protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
According to McKillips, the company intends to use the protections afforded by Chapter 11 to eliminate debt and “emerge as an even stronger company.”
As of June 24, 266 Chuck E Cheese locations have reopened across North America and have resumed hosting events such as birthday parties and fundraisers.
“Our guest response has been overwhelmingly positive and that gives us even greater confidence to continue with our re-openings as planned. It is a great honor to be the place where kids can just be kids and families can safely enjoy wholesome entertainment together over great food,” McKillips said in the statement.
McKillips further emphasized that Chuck E Cheese locations that have reopened will remain open and continue to offer delivery and carry-out dining services, as well as private birthday parties—which will be by reservation and held during special hours.
