A collision between a transport truck and delivery van on westbound Hwy. 401 approaching Hwy. 25 in Milton is causing major delays for commuters today (June 20).

Reports say a transport truck collided with the delivery vehicle resulting in minor injuries and leaving the three right lanes on westbound Hwy, 401 blocked.

“They’re just in the process of getting those vehicles removed. The tractor-trailer has already been removed, said OPP Highway Safety Division Officer Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the crash that occurred shortly before 11 a.m.

“The driver of that delivery truck went to the hospital just as a precaution. Amazingly he got out on his own.”

Mississauga OPP is investigating the crash.

Schmidt said looking into the circumstances of the collision, they believe it was the result of a lane change between one of the vehicles involved. The vehicles “got tangled up” right at the exit to Highway 25.

“The two vehicles went into each other,” he said. “The delivery truck collided into the rear of the transport and there was debris all over the highway.”

Schmidt said all lanes should be open within the next half hour.

“We have to get this debris cleaned up, but we should have at least a few more lanes open shortly,” he said. “If you’re Highway 401 westbound, anywhere past James Snow (Parkway) or Trafalgar Rd., you can expect pretty heavy delays right now.

“Take your time, and if you can get off at Steeles Ave. or Derry Rd. or any of the side roads it might be faster for you.”
