COVID-19 cases stable in Hamilton

COVID-19 transmission in Hamilton remains low with new cases at 17 per day (from 16 and 21 the past two weeks) and patients in intensive care units steady at zero.

The seven-day average for hospital patients is up a tick to 0.7 (from 0.3 and 0.1) and the weekly incidence rate (per 100,000 population) is also up slightly, to 20 from 14 and 25 the previous reporting periods.

Outbreaks at long term care homes, hospitals and retirement centres remain the same as last week at 11 while the per cent positivity rate is holding at 14.4 per cent – it was 14.3 per cent and 16.2 per cent the previous reporting periods. Wastewater signals for COVID have decreased.

Influenza transmission in Hamilton is also considered moderate and stable, with the per cent positivity rate down to 10.7 per cent (from 11.5 per cent) and new cases (seven-day average) at 6.1 (from 8.0). Wastewater signals for Influenza ‘A’ have decreased while Influenza ‘B’ has not been reported since last June.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus signs are also stable, with the per cent positivity rate at 1.5 per cent (from 1.6 per cent and 2.3 per cent) and wastewater signs decreasing. The number of outbreaks from the virus is up a bit to seven (from four and six).
