COVID-19 in Hamilton still lingering with influenza numbers “moderate and stable”

COVID-19 transmission in Hamilton is considered stable while continuing to loosen its grip on resident health, with seasonal influenza and RSV viral numbers moderate and stable.

New COVID cases last week are averaging 17 per day – on par with the 16 per day the previous two reporting periods – with the weekly incidence rate (per 100,000 people) virtually unchanged at 19. Hospital admissions are low at stable at 0.1 per day and there are no patients in intensive care units.

The number of outbreaks at retirement centre, hospitals and long-term care homes is up a bit to 14 (from 11) but the per cent positivity rate dropped to 13.1 per cent from the previous week’s 14.3 per cent.

Wastewater signals are considered stable.

Influenza numbers are also stable but they are up slightly, with the daily new case load averaging 8.7 (versus 8.0 and 7.3 the previous reporting periods) and the per cent positivity rate up to 11.7 per cent from 10.7 per cent.

RSV per cent positivity rates level with the previous week at 1.6 per cent while the number of outbreaks is down to three from seven the previous week.
