Two COVID-19 cases involving students at Sunningdale Public School present an exposure risk and at least two groups of kids have been told not to attend school.

“There are exposure risks related to these cases and cohorts of high risk close contacts have been identified by Halton Region Public Health,” Halton Region wrote in a letter to parents. “These groups are being notified by Halton Region Public Health to self-isolate at home and not attend school.”
The two affected students did not get COVID while attending the school, the health department says.
Sunningdale is one of two Oakville schools identified today as having COVID cases.

A student at Maple Grove Public School also has COVID but the health department says that student has not been attending classes and posses no risk to classmates.
The third school where a case has been reported is St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School in Milton.
Today, Halton Region Public Health reports there are 83 active COVID cases in Oakville, 21 in Milton and 11 in Burlington.
Ontario is reporting 425 new cases of COVID-19 today, along with two new deaths related to the virus.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says 67 per cent of the new cases are in people under the age of 40.
The province is also reporting 18 new COVID-19 cases related to schools across the province, including at least eight among students.
The new cases bring the total number of schools with a reported case to 75 out of Ontario’s 4,828 publicly-funded schools.
The province says it processed 31,753 tests over the previous day.
