Condo and apartment dwellers in Halton must now wear masks in most common areas.

Halton Regional councillors today approved amendments to its Mandatory Non-Medical Masks/Face Coverings By-law that will see those who live in buildings cover up.

This means that people living in Oakville, Milton, Burlington and in other parts of Halton will have to wear masks or face covering in lobbies, elevators, laundry rooms and mailrooms in these buildings.

Masks can include balaclava, bandana, scarf, cloth or other similar item that covers the nose, mouth and chin without gapping, as well as medical masks.

By-law enforcement officers will have the right to inspect buildings to make sure the laws are followed and issue fines if necessary.
