Coyotes in Burlington Prompt Public Meeting

If you have a dog, you’ve likely seen the rabbit debris, for lack of a better term, and may have even encountered a not-so-friendly coyote (or six) near Newport Park in Burlington.

You’ve got company.

A public meeting about living with coyotes is taking place on Tuesday.

Mayor Rick Goldring and Ward 4 Coun. Jack Dennison will be joined by Burlington MPP Eleanor McMahon and a Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry representative.

They’ll be sharing info and discussing:

  • What to do if you encounter a coyote
  • How to deter coyotes from approaching backyards and play spaces
  • What the community can do to minimize human-coyote conflicts
  • Next steps.

The event runs from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at Mainway Arena (4105 Mainway) in the auditorium.

Coyote sightings or feedings can be reported by phoning 905- 335-3030 or by filing a report.
