One new Halton public school is reporting a case of COVID-19 on Oct. 15.

Overall, there are now 12 active COVID-19 cases at public schools in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills.

The Halton District School Board continues to report zero classrooms closed.

A classroom is considered closed when the teacher and students have to spend at least 10 days quarantining at home and learning online.

“We do have some schools that have outbreaks in classrooms, but we don’t have any classes that are considered completely ‘closed’,” said a board spokesperson. The Board says at least one student, or the teacher, from the class where the positive case was reported, has returned to school, even among students too young to be vaccinated.

Here’s a list of schools currently reporting at least one COVID-19 case:

Elementary

  • Anne J. MacArthur: 3 students
  • Escarpment View: 1 student
  • Hawthorne Village: 2 students
  • Joshua Creek: 1 student
  • Maple Grove: 1 staff, 1 student

Secondary

  • Craig Kielburger: 1 student
  • Nelson: 2 students
