Police are working to have a video that appears to show the murder of a Brampton woman at the hands of her husband taken down from social media platforms.

Davinder Kaur was killed in Brampton’s Sparrow Park on May 19, Peel Regional Police said. The 43-year-old woman was found suffering from stab wounds and died of her injuries.

Police have since charged 43-year-old Nav Nishan Singh from Brampton with first-degree murder in Kaur’s death, with sources saying the accused is Kaur’s estranged husband.

But a video which appears to show part of the killing has been circulating on social media following the alleged murder.

The disturbing video, which Insauga.com has reviewed and decided not to share due to its graphic content, is still up on some social media platforms but has been reportedly removed from Facebook earlier this week.

Peel Regional Police confirmed that investigators are aware of the video which is related to the homicide and said officers are working with social media platforms to have it removed “as quickly as possible.”

Police are also cautioning members of the public against sharing the video online.

“Participating in the sharing of this video re-victimizes family, friends and community members during the incredibly difficult grieving process,” a police spokesperson said in a statement to Insauga.com. “Our continued thoughts and support are with individuals grieving this unimaginable loss.”

Kaur’s brother told CBC News that Singh had asked Kaur to meet in Sparrow Park on the day of her death to discuss living together again.

Relatives of Kaur have started a GoFundMe page to raise funds and help with funeral arrangements and support Kaur’s four children.

Kaur’s death is at least the third suspected femicide of a woman of South Asian descent in Mississauga or Brampton being killed as a result of intimate partner violence in the last year.

Brampton woman Pawanpreet Kaur was shot and killed in December while working at the Petro-Canada gas station in Mississauga. Dharam Singh Dhaliwal is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder in the death of Pawanpreet, and the two are believed to have been in a relationship.

And in September, 22-year-old Chandanpreet Kaur was stabbed and killed at a busy Mississauga Canadian Tire, and police have charged her husband Charanjeet Singh with first-degree murder.

The investigation into Davinder Kaur’s death is ongoing anyone with information regarding the stabbing or has surveillance or dashcam footage from the area to contact investigators at 905-453-2121 ext. 3205.
