Downtown Burlington vegan restaurant closes its doors

A downtown Burlington vegan burger restaurant is closing its doors after six years in business.
Boon Burger Burlington released a statement to its Facebook last week announcing the closing.
“After a little over six years in Burlington, today is our last day of business,” said the post, authored by a store manager, Lauren.
“I, myself, have been lucky enough to see Boon through half that time, so I wanted to take a moment to say goodbye.
“The team and I cannot even begin to thank everyone for all the love and well-wishes we’ve received. We’ve been kept very busy in the best way possible.
“To us, Boon has always felt like its own little community. We know many of you will miss us here, but I can promise you that we’ll miss you more.”

Boon Burger served a 100 per cent animal-free, plant-based menu. Their stated goal was to make sure every ingredient was sustainable. A large part of the menu was organic, local or fair trade.
“Thank you, Burlington, for making us feel at home, for every order, for every conversation, for every review, for every time you cam to us to celebrate, for every regular Thursday lunch or Sunday dinner, for everything.”
The Boon Burger location at 497 Dundas St. W. in Oakville will remain open.
