A driver of a truck that flipped over in Burlington yesterday (Nov. 2) now faces charges, as does the company he works for.

The incident happened in the westbound lanes of Hwy. 407 west of Appleby Line in the mid-afternoon affecting traffic in both directions. Injuries to the driver were considered minor, according to the OPP.

Investigators say the large crane truck first veered off the road and into the ditch but ended up back on the highway where it flipped onto its side.

A heavy equipment vehicle was brought in to pull the truck back up onto its wheels.

Subsequently, charges filed include those that relate to restrictions against a G1 class driver as well as careless driving. One of the restrictions G1 drivers have in Ontario is they cannot drive on the 400 series of highways.

As well, the company that owns the vehicle has been charged with permitting a person with an improper license to drive a commercial vehicle.
