Driver fatally strikes an 89-year-old Oakville man

Halton Regional Police Service are investigating a collision where a driver fatally struck an 89-year-old man from Oakville last night.
On Saturday (Apr. 22) at approximately 8:00 p.m., police responded to a call near Trafalgar Rd in Oakville.
Police say a 44-year-old woman who is a resident of Oakville was driving her white Honda Civic northbound on Trafalgar Rd — north of the QEW.
At the same time an 89-year-old man — also a resident of Oakville was walking with the assistance of his walker near the intersection of Trafalgar Rd/ Marlborough Ct, officers say.
Investigators believe the car then fatally struck the pedestrian as he crossed the road.
Police closed off the intersection for 4 hours to conduct investigations.
HRPS has not mentioned details as to what condition the 89-year-old man was in following the incident or what injuries were sustained. However, a member of the Regional Coroner’s Office attended the scene.
It is unknown at this time if the 44-year-old woman who was driving suffered any injuries.
