Elderly woman dies in Oakville backyard pool drowning

An elderly woman has died after drowning in a backyard pool on Saturday (July 16) in Oakville.

Halton Regional Police, Oakville Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services were called to a residence on Aspen Forest Drive at around 3:50 p.m. on Saturday afternoon after a report of an elderly woman drowning in a backyard pool.

Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered someone trying to resuscitate the woman and took over. Paramedics would later take her to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

“First responders attended and pulled the woman from the pool and began life saving measures,” Halton Regional Police Constable Ryan Anderson told inhalton.com.

The drowning is being treated as accidental.
