The heat and sunshine in Halton has been a welcome change for many residents after a winter that seemed to last forever. Now, some interesting weather is in the forecast.
A special weather statement is in effect for Burlington, Oakville, Caledon, Halton Hills, Milton, Mississauga, and Brampton, according to Environment Canada as of just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday July 26, 2018.
The statement reads that residents should be prepared for “an extreme heat event for the Canada Day long weekend.”
According to Environment Canada, showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Wednesday, bringing hot and humid air from the Gulf of Mexico to Southern Ontario.

We can expect daytime highs in the low- to mid-thirties, with humidex values into the mid-forties, starting this Friday or Saturday and into the long weekend.
“Overnight low temperatures will only fall to the low twenties, providing little or no relief from the heat.”
Environment Canada states that there is “uncertainty” about when the heat event will end. As of now, it could persist into the middle of next week.
“This will likely be the most significant heat event of the season thus far. Heat warnings will be issued as the event draws nearer.”
